Metro area-based poet\, teaching artist\, essayist\, and community activist from Baton Rouge. He is the creator of THE AMERICAN AUDIT\, a multimedia spoken word project detailing 400 years of Black American life using the extended metaphor of America as a business being audited. He holds a degree in Marketing from Southern University and A&M College. He is a 2018-2019 Kennedy Center Citizen Artist Fellow and a member of Baton Rouge Business Report’s 2017 Forty Under 40 Class. His work as a performance poet/writer has been featured in a variety of publications\, including Atlanta Black Star\, Blavity\, Button Poetry\, All Def Digital\, Slam Find\, [225]\, Drunk In A Midnight Choir\, Mocking Heart Review\, University of New Orleans’ Bayou Magazine\, and Nicholls State University’s Gris-Gris literary journal. Donney also contributed two scholarly articles to the St. James Encyclopedia of Hip Hop Culture\, 1st Edition (St. James Press\, February 2018). His work as a community activist has been highlighted on BBC\, Democracy Now\, The New York Times\, and The Advocate. As the Chief Content Editor for The North Star\, Donney spends his days working to amplify the narratives of Black and other marginalized people whose stories often go untold or misrepresented in mainstream news. \nMr. Rose will also conduct an afternoon writing workshop on Tuesday\, August 24. Admission to the workshop includes admission to the evening performance on August 27. \nWorkshop: Narrative (Origins & Identity). Objective: In this workshop\, participants will use elements of imagery and narrative to give a description of who they are by utilizing information about family history/customs\, places of current residence\, places they may have migrated from\, or characteristics of family members.

He has authored more than a dozen books\, the most recent\, “Hope For Animals & Their World\,” was coauthored with Jane Goodall. Lily studied biology at Smith college\, then completed her master’s and doctorate in wildlife conservation at the University of Florida.  She has worked in Africa\, Central and North America on community-based conservation projects and continues to partner with global organizations to advance conservation\, inspire communities to join in\, and save wildlife from African lions to monarch butterflies. \n\n\n\n\nDavid Beede: \nDavid Beede of Melrose\, Florida\, is a musician/singer/songwriter who built his first dulcimer in 1973 and has been teaching and sharing his music with folks of all ages for over four decades. David’s music ranges from traditional Americana and British Isle folk to original songs and instrumentals.
